A few of my favourite things

For running:

**These reviews are my own opinions and was not given products to review**

Race/ Recovery compression socks, I've mentioned these before and some people have asked what they are. I'm telling you these are the best investment I've made clothing wise. They are pricey, these ones are by sugoi and really the only thing I've found in my town. I've only tried them once for running, just to try, I found I ran faster.  I wore these after my half marathon, running for over 2 1/2 hrs than hopping in a car for 3 hrs can make you quite stiff. My calves were not sore in the least so I was impressed. I've used them after other hard workouts too, teaching doubles for example, is very difficult and your muscles may not be too forgiving but these certainly helped. I've read that a good compression anything is great for recovery and running, keeping the jiggle down.

The mommy must, double jogging stroller. I don't have a treadmill. This is the only way I ran for my  second daughter's first year of life. I couldn't rely on my husband to be home when I wanted to run and I don't really have a babysitter, so I made my own plans, ran when I wanted and they got lots of fresh air. It may not always be stress free (45min to get ready, baby bickering) but it helps me get my runs in. I bought a cheaper model, if I were to do it over again I'd get an expensive more durable one. This one has many miles put on it in the last 2 years and its had to be remade a bit to work for me. I also recommend to never get a swival wheel, unless you just want to walk.

I've only tried these sports beans as an electrolyte replacement. The thought of gu makes me gag but I may try it sometime. My bowels will not do gatorade until well after a run, so these beans work. Again I've used these during hard long workouts at the gym as well.

Who doesn't like new shoes?

Motivation, this is my half marathon medal. I can do this and I did! And I'm hoping to do it again in the fall, am I crazy...nope, just hooked.

I have other things, I picked up a Canadian Running magazine last week and I found it very informative. Great read for runners. Running outside, its sooo much easier! My running belt, my hat (I sweat too much to wear sunglasses) and last but not least my husband and kids cheering me on!

You'll notice no ipod or music, I never use music with the kids and I rarely use it for my own runs unless on the treadmill (because its so darn boring). And on my wish list is a garmin or something similar, for now I use mapmyrun.com.

Very informative post - thank you!
I find running outside harder right now but I am hoping it will get easier because I would love to be able to use the outdoors as my own *gym*.

Loved this post! Picture posts always make me smile -- especially when they're "favorite things" kinda posts. Hmmm ... I think I know what one of my upcoming posts will be! LOL!
