Roger Bannister Wish

Prior to 1954, scientists believed that it was impossible to run the mile in under 4 minutes. On May 16th, 1954, Roger Bannister did just that. Since 1954, the mile has been completed under 4 minutes - 4700 times! Roger Bannister believed in the impossible and not in opinion. It turns out that what kept most people from attempting the impossible was a lack of belief. My wish is that myself and anyone else would attempt the impossible this year - raise your own bar and hold onto that deepest emotion that is an intricate part of who you are. You can make things happen, you can change your worlds and by doing so affect the lives of others for the better too.

This was sent to me through my Regional Fitness Manager at Goodlife. I love this little message of hope. For me, I'm not obviously going to run a 4min mile (a 10min would be nice though). But its the idea of believing I can do something I never thought was possible. I hope everyone can take this message and reach for great goals this year.

That is a great message - and to think that 4700 people have reached that goal as well - talk about setting a standard!
