Don't let one taste ruin your diet

ahem....lifestyle. But we all know its a diet, just a flexible one.

Anyway, its someones' birthday coming soon and I was practicing. Why do I practice making cupcakes and icing? Really I love being able to say, I made it :). I take pride in it. However its much easier to order a cake.

So I practiced making different coloured cupcakes and chocolate icing. I did also taste test. I managed to only eat 1/2 of a cupcake and I shipped the rest with my husband for work. I had 45min before I had to leave for work and instead of saying to myself 'I blew this week over some BLT's (bites, licks and tastes)', I decided to make some 0pt soup. It takes no time at all. I put some EVOO, sauteed onions, celery and carrots till soft, added a can of tomatoes, chicken broth and cauliflower. Bring to boil, add Italian and red pepper seasoning and voila! 0pt soup in 15min, perfect for making up for 12pt cupcakes!

And my menu for today

oatmeal 2
milk 1

sauteed portabella, zuchini, spinach with EVOO 2
one bun 3
cream cheese 1

cupcake (and licks of batter) 12

pear 2

veggie soup 0
1/2 multigrain bagel 3
yogurt 2

pomegranate arils 1

popcorn 3

total 30pts so only 1pt over, not bad at all.

New to your blog! I wrote about diets today on my blog. It's hard to bake and not taste. This is my favorite time of the year because I bake cookies for my friends. The nice thing is that I don't have to taste test anymore because I have used the same cookie recipe for 10 years and they always taste the same.

Thanks for the post!

I can't remember if I read that you were or were not a vegetarian. It looks like your diet today was pretty light on protein. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Cupcakes are protein, aren't they? ;)

Way to go, creating balance is what it's all about!

Karen, you are so very right, I'm not a vegetarian but I did mention to my husband last night that I really needed some meat.
