Than you have Terry

Today is the 30th Anniversary of Terry Fox starting his incredible journey to fight cancer, with his cross Canada run. In his 143 day journey he made it to Thunder Bay and averaged 42km a day running. Sadly, he did not finish his race, but millions help to support his cause yearly.

Earlier today I was doubting myself with doing this half marathon. I haven't had enough training, I've barely had long runs. I want to still do the run but frankly I'm scared. Than I read an article today on Terry Fox. I was only a mere 2 years old at this time but that fact that he ran a marathon a day for 143 days is pretty much a miracle given what he was up against. So I need to suck it up and do it.

Sometimes we need a reminder like this to put things in to perspective.. you can do it!

I totally remember his run too. (I was really really young but remember all the media attention and hype around him.) He is a great example of a never-give-up spirit!

Thanks for this perspective. My half is on July 4th and even though it's 11.5 weeks away, I'm already starting to doubt myself.

Mind over matter. We CAN do it and we WILL!!!!

When you look at it like that...wow nothing should hold us back from trying anything, should it?

You can totally do it! You can come up and jog slowly beside me. Considering how long it takes me to run it, I should come in last in my category and near the end of everyone else according to last year's times but that's okay. I don't mind. I'm in it to finish not win it!

Wow.

I should probably stop using my bum knee as an excuse.
