All I have to say is gross, gross, gross. These things hoard around our area for a few weeks in June and they just arrived last night. I decided to do an early run at 7:30am before it got too hot. However I had many friends to fly in my face, stick to my clothes and just be annoying. They aren't dangerous by any means they just like to stick to you. We call them fishflies but really they are mayflies, either way both species are gross.
They come out at dusk and flock to lights, there are businesses that turn all of their lights out to avoid the daily cleanup afterwards. Millions on business windows and streets. You drive over them and crunch, crunch, crunch is all you here. They only last 24hrs and I'm sure they are probably necessary for the ecosystem but just makes for a little hibbie gibbie of a run.
I also ran a route today that showed how many K it was, which is very inspiring because I know I can do it and if I wanted a longer run I can work it in. Really I could work in probably a 12-13K run on this route, so thats pretty cool.

Ewwwww. I know how you feel. I don't even want to think about the number of bugs I've eaten this year. April was really bad. Once you start getting out of breath your mouth naturally hangs open more, and in they fly! So gross!
