My first experience, I was nervous but once I got there I felt better. I'm glad my family came though. Because it was an evening run, it was really my girls bedtimes but we kept them out.
It was warm but not too hot, so the perfect running. And the bugs weren't out yet so that was really nice to have no fishflies! I of course started at the back of the path but didn't realize that there were alot of walkers. With 565 people all going at the same time the beginning took a little weeding through. I got into my pace pretty well and was tempted to go quicker but I thought, no I'm running this whole thing and I'm going to make it. So I kept my slow and steady pace. It was nice because I got to pass a few people than I thought "ya, I'm better than them" so stupid but hey I needed something to keep me going.
The course was nice, some main roads than through a path and back to where we started. And ending with a nice hill about 1K from the finish, and yes I ran the hill too. I'm pretty proud of myself right now.
1. for doing it by myself
2. for running the whole time
3. for wanting more
Seeing my husband and daughter cheer me at the finish was a great moment. I know its not a marathon or anything but its a start.
So I know you want to know my time 37min and 42sec. There is another 5K in 6 weeks. So I'm planning on doing that one and see how much I can improve.

Wow! Congrats! That is really awesome. I want to run a race now, but I can bearly run more than a km at a time. How long did you have to train to be able to run 5km without stopping? keep it up!
I did the couch to 5K at coolrunnings.com. I honestly didn't think I could ever run this. I started at the end of Feb. I believe its an 8week program but there were some weeks I stayed at for 3 weeks because I only got in 1run. I'm telling you if you start off slow and keep adding you can do it, plus you're already doing some running.
Once I got to 10min straight running on the treadmill I started going outside. And I run with the babies about half the time. Than I got to 30min straight. So I've been running that for about 3-4weeks. I did one 40min run and than the 5K
Now I'm going to add one more day of running. I'm at 3 days now. Probably running 30-40min each time.
Thanks!!
