This is a parenting post...
August is finished, what.....? Already? Gosh I'm so not ready for September.
It saddens me how quickly time goes by. I find I'm always saying to myself...when I get this in order this will happen, I will enjoy this more, I will have more time, etc. Than another week goes by and I didn't get certain things accomplished.
The most important thing in the world is for me to spend more time with my girls. So I'm going to ask anyone with older children or anyone that can remember their childhood (because I can't remember a thing). What do you remember the best about your mom or dad when you were a child? For myself I'm always trying to take them to do activities (park, blueberry picking, air show, local festival, parade...these are some things we've done in the last week) although they enjoy all these things would they enjoy me more if I just stayed home and read books and watched movies with them?
Parenting is a learning experience and today I just feel like I'm getting a big F. Do we ever feel like we have everything done right?
Thats all today, I'm just not feeling like a good mom today and so I ask questions.

I think we all have days like that. I know I do. And then some one will compliment me on the boys and I will think "Hey, I must be doing something right!" Parenting is hard. There is no handbook, it is more like a fly-by-the-seat-of your-pants type thing. I figure if they go to bed healthy & happy (ok sometime there are tears!) I must of done ok that day.
What I remember most about my childhood is either spending one on one time with a parent (not so easy with 4 kids). Or them sitting in the shade watching us play in the front yard(keep in mind this was in an era where you would be outside all day unsupervised!)
Sounds like you are doing a great job!
Im not a mom BUT I have one! Sure I remember the days out, they were pretty awesome, I remember the vacations, but do you know what, although these EVENTS stick in my mind so do all the other important things I did with my mom, me helping cook in the kitchen, mom helping me with my math homework, reading together as a family, making xmas decorations, halloween costumes etc
Sounds to me like you are doing a great job, balance is the most important thing IMO to make sure you have quality time aswell as exciting things to do.
feel better soon!!
hey!! you have a wonderful blog. thanks for sharing your weight lost progress here. keep it up and never give up. you can do it.
my daughter just left Wednesday for University - I swear - I could have written this post a million times over the year.
In the end - I decided what they would remember aren't the "things" you do - we all have different pulls on our time and a Normal Rockwell painting isn't always possible. I think what they remember is being loved and accepted for the wonderful little beings they are. And that is what makes them remember the stuff you do together. No matter if it is blueberry picking or reading a book. Both activities require that you give them all your attention - which is what makes a happy child in these days of distractions! Sounds like your kids are very blessed.
It is funny that we get educated to do everything in life EXCEPT to raise little people!!
