WI Saturday

Stayed the same this week, which is great. I ate lots of things that would otherwise have me going up so I'm happy with this.

I know we all have that table at work where food is always out. The area I've been working in the last 2 weeks has a buffet everyday! We had 3 birthdays thus 3 special dinners (working nights), chinese, pizza, tacos. I can decline all of these. We have sausage, cheese and crackers out. We have pies, cakes, eclairs, ju-jubes, chocolate. I decline it all. Seriously I can't believe how much is always available. I work in a place with 100's of people. I move around constantly and am always meeting new people. This area is very friendly, a nice area to work but the food is making my so nervous. I just recently finally landed a permanent job with this group of people after being with the company for 11 1/2years. To celebrate they brought in a banana cream pie and chocolate eclairs! They said they knew I didn't eat this type of thing but here are 2 things instead, lol!

I don't want to be rude, so I do have some some times but I'm very much dreading the month of December. I said yesterday I might just take the whole month off so I don't gain 10lbs with just them! I know everthing in moderation. But to have these things I need to eat liek a bird the rest of the time and I do resist, no thank you is my middle name, but it will get harder as I'm there everyday. It will get harder because I don't want to sound like a prude...maybe I should say it took me 2 years to lose 50lbs and I'm not done yet?

My leader said to say you were allergic...you get all puffy with fat :). I tried that, they wanted to know what I was allergic to, lol. Didn't work. They are the sweetest people, what is a girl to do?

That is kind of a tough situation. You don't want to upset people by refusing food (since we live in a culture that associates love and food), but you don't want to lose all your hard work because you don't want to offend people. Yikes.

Hmmm... you definitely need to come up with a strategy that doesn't involve something coming across like a fib (i.e. being allergic - even though it was a joke). I would suggest either being honest about not wanting to eat the food because you've recently lost a lot of weight, or just simply taking it and disposing of it somewhere else. If you feel like you're wasting food, you might want to just say that high sugar foods upset your stomach. It's a bit of a fib, but it does upset you when you see your stomach get bigger. So, it is a little bit of a fib. Tough call.

I have a friend that turns down everything that's offered to her because she's watching her weight. She doesn't ever indulge because she doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. When people ask her she just shrugs and says, "I'm not hungry." After awhile people just go used to it.

I've blabbered on here, so forgive me. I think you just have to decide what works best for you.

You STS with all of that around for a week? *bows down*

That's a super tough situation! I like the allergic excuse! I'm putting that one in my pocket!

Congrats on the permanent job. You are doing awesome. 50 is so close! Just wondering about the average size of the people you are working with, if so much food is always around. I wish that I worked at a job where we could do the WW-at-work. I think you need a specific number of people to sign up. If you could get together enough people that are interested that is. Chances are others struggle with the food too, they just don't talk about it. Just an idea. Good luck.
